Principal's Message
Dear Parents
My name is Alan Frost and I am proud to be the Principal of Hobsons Bay Primary School in Maddox Rd, Newport.
At our school we are a close-knit population of 206 students situated on a large site of 4.4 hectares. Being a small school we can provide individual attention and establish a close relationship with each child. We also value a close partnership with parents and encourage you to take an active role in all our school and classroom programs.
We offer a comprehensive curriculum program for all children covering every key learning area with a special emphasis on literacy and numeracy. We have a computer network throughout the school and an extensive computer laboratory. We offer Japanese as our Language Other Than English (LOTE) and have recently established a sister-school relationship with Shinden Elementary School in Anjo, Japan. At our school we also place a great deal of emphasis and value on developing an appreciation of the Arts in our children.
We also offer a Before School and After School Care Program for our students on our school site.
We are currently working with architects and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to finalise plans for a new school on our site which will provide exciting, state-of-the-art facilities to enhance teaching and learning within our school. In the meantime, all of our classrooms are air-conditioned which is a great benefit to the students during the hot weather at the beginning and end of each year.
Our highly-qualified staff provides a warm, caring and secure environment where children can learn and be challenged to reach their full potential.
