School Profile

Hobsons Bay Primary School is home to 206 children and 17 staff, all of whom work together as one big, happy family. Our school is situated on 4.5 hectares with huge playing fields and exciting adventure playground equipment.

Each child in our school is special and we all treat each other with respect as we come from many diverse backgrounds.

The school aims to provide a comprehensive curriculum catering for all children, taking account of individual differences, disabilities and special talents. Specialist teachers are provided for The Arts, Phys. Ed., Reading Recovery, LOTE (Japanese), our Horticultural Program and Information & Communication Technologies (ICT). An Instrumental Music program is also offered.

At Hobsons Bay Primary School we work co-operatively with the community to maintain an orderly, stimulating, safe, happy and caring environment, to enable children to feel secure in their learning. Each member is aware of his/her rights and responsibilities and those of others. We are committed to taking positive steps to allow children to make optimum use of all learning opportunities available.

A supportive school community encourages parent involvement in classroom programs, Parents' Club, the School Council and coaching sports teams.

The school strives to ensure buildings and grounds are safe and stimulating. A range of playground equipment has been provided for children's recreational use.

The wearing of school uniform is compulsory for all children. School uniform colours are Royal Blue and Fire Engine Red. Individual choice is possible through mixing and matching garments of either colour.

Our school's motto is "Advance Towards Excellence". All children are encouraged to always strive to do their best and to take pride in their achievements.

The teachers and support staff are challenged and committed to improving the learning outcomes for all students in this culturally enriched and diverse learning environment. All staff undertake planned professional development for improving skills and expertise.

Our children's good behaviour both within the school and on excursions has been widely acknowledged.

Visitors to the school often comment on the excellent school tone and the manner in which the children are tolerant of, and cooperative with, each other. This reflects the teaching and learning programs which respond to student needs and which is underpinned by a Whole-School Approach to student welfare and discipline.
